Forgive My Fins by Tera Lynn Childs
Publication Date: June 1, 2010
ARC Source: Traveling ARC Tours
Summary:
Lily Sanderson has a secret, and it’s not that she has a huge crush on gorgeous swimming god Brody Bennett, who makes her heart beat flipper-fast. Unrequited love is hard enough when you’re a normal teenage girl, but when you’re half human, half mermaid like Lily, there’s no such thing as a simple crush.
Lily’s mermaid identity is a secret that can’t get out, since she’s not just any mermaid – she’s a Thalassinian princess. When Lily found out three years ago that her mother was actually a human, she finally realized why she didn’t feel quite at home in Thalassinia, and she’s been living on land and going to Seaview high school ever since, hoping to find where she truly belongs. Sure, land has its problems – like her obnoxious, biker boy neighbor Quince Fletcher – but it has that one major perk – Brody. The problem is, mermaids aren’t really the casual dating type – when they “bond,” it’s for life.
When Lily’s attempt to win Brody’s love leads to a tsunami-sized case of mistaken identity, she is in for a tidal wave of relationship drama, and she finds out, quick as a tailfin flick, that happily-ever-after never sails quite as smoothly as you planned.
My Two Cents:
Lily has been in love with Brody for as long as she can remember, only he has no idea. When she finally wakes up one morning and decides to do something about it, her enemy Quince surprisingly decides to help her.....and that's when things get pretty interesting lol.
Wow...this was such a cute book! I loved every little thing about it. First off, the cover is just fantastic. I swear I just kept reading and then flipping back just to stare at it. Awesome character developement, to where I really felt like I KNEW this characters. I must say that my favorite character was Quince. Such a hard exterior but yet so caring and thoughtful inside. Lily drove me absolutely nuts, but in a good way. We saw what Lily's life on land was like and then the author took us on a trip straight to Thalassinia. The detailed descriptions of everything made me feel like I was really there!
The sexual tension between her and Quince was just so thick throughout the whole book I felt like I was intruding just to read about those moments lol! Why is it that we're always searching for something that appears to be right in front of our faces. The question is will it be too late to realize it? Awesome book if you're looking for something light and fun to read on your summer vacation.
